While we’re on the topic of not so obvious features, did you know that you can share access to your Almond+ or Almond 2015 with your family and friends? It’s really easy to do as well, but what’s not so obvious is where it’s done.
This is something we implemented a few months back, based on feedback from our Kickstarter backers, but it might not be very obvious how you set it up, so we figured a quick guide on how to use the App Security option on the Almond+ was overdue. this was designed to prevent access to individual apps in the LCD UI of the Almond+ and it’s really quite easy to use.
There has been some confusion with regards to how to remove Z-Wave sensors from the Almond+ and as such we thought we’d put together a little guide that explains both how Z-Wave works when it comes to adding/removing sensors and how it’s done correctly on the Almond+. In firmware R070 we added support for home automation rules and we’ve improved things massively in R072, so we thought it was time to provide some instructions on how to create rules. We’ve just released firmware R070 for the Almond+ and it’s a major software update which contains a wide range of new features, fixes and improvements. If you’ve already updated to R069 or later, then you’ll be able to upgrade to this firmware using the Software Update option in the Settings in the LCD UI. We’ve provided step by step instructions for the firmware update in this blog post and we’ve also covered some of the new features that comes with this firmware release such as the home automation rules interface.
